So far so good I have been using this as needed for a couple years. Yes, it protects from bugs, but the mesh messes with vision a bit and the shirt/jacket most definitely does not feel cool! Wearing this makes hot and humid feel more so, but removes the bug factor for the most part. Experiencing wilderness regardless of season is always a trade off between comfort and temperature control.

Great, but curious design I have been using this jacket for almost 15 years. Bushwacking a lot, I poke little holes in the side mesh every year but keep sewing them up, and it keeps going. I use the kangaroo pouch all the time. My biggest gripe over the years has been using no seeum mesh for the face, which cuts way down on vision and ventilation. No seeum mesh is way overkill--you just need to keep out blackflies on up. Noseeum mesh is needed for after dark in tents, but I have never encountered a situation in the northwoods where it was critical in a bug shirt
