A Year in the Wilderness

Amy and Dave Freeman have traveled over thirty thousand miles by canoe, kayak, and dogsled through some of the world's wildest places, from the Amazon to the Arctic. In 2014 National Geographic named them Adventurers of the Year, and in 2015-2016, they spent an entire year in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, a pristine, federally protected region in northern Minnesota. The Freemans live in Grand Marais, Minnesota.
