Raud S by Helle Knives

Raud (Red) combines the durability and usability of the classic Scandinavian work knives – an important part of Helle history. This year we add more folding knives to the same concept.

The Raud combines light weight with sturdy construction anda 2,7 mm thick blade. Small enough for pocket carry, but big enough for real work. For normal hands, the deep oiled, red birch handle is just big enough for a three-finger grip.

Perfect Gentlemen’s Knife I already have a Helle Raud M. This, Raud S, is a smaller version of the M without the pocket clip. I do not favor pocket clips. At 3 1/8” closed, this knife fits very unobtrusively in the pocket. It is a, by size, Gentleman’s knife, but it is a brute. The blade is 1/8” thick, sharp as a razor, and locks up tight. A knife built to last forever. It is in size, lengthwise,, comparable to a Buck 55, but the handle gives a better grip, and the thickness of the blade allows prying and hacking. This knife will last me the rest of my life and, probably, last my great grandson his entire life. It is built that well. I never liked my next door neighbor because he always bragged about how perfect Norwegians are. I guess he is right.
