Hauling Water: Reflections on Making a Home in the North Woods
by Becca Brin Manlove
This book is not about striving to stay alive in the bush. If you're looking for grim determination in the teeth of blizzards and starvation while wolves howl at the door, you're holding the wrong book. I do talk about some adventures, such as falling in love and chasing bears. There are challenges, such as maintaining a marriage despite paddling a canoe together. Becca describes her life in the north woods in a very straight forward, easy to read way that entertains the reader.
